Tv and Satelite receiver started smoking when being powered by Portable Generator?
1500 Watt Generator Have been powering these items for several years with the generator. Using Heavy Duty outdoor extension cord Plugged tv and receiver in 120 volt outlet at home and work fine
If you have been powering the TV and satellite receiver for some time without problems, the most likely answer is that the generator malfunctioned in some way. Possibly it lost it's voltage regulation and provided far more voltage than either device could handle. You should have the generator gone through and make sure it's operating properly. You'll have to have the TV and satellite receiver checked as well. It may be cheaper to replace any of the 3 devices rather than have them repaired. It depends on the damage.
