Air compressors?
I have noticed that Air Compressor heads have horse power ratings and rpms. If I get a head for 5hp do I need an engine of the same hp or are the rpms more inportant?
rpms are more important.
to high of rpm will burn up the pump bearings, wear out the rings, and score the cylinders.
to low rpm will not hurt the pump, but will be inefficient, resulting in longer "pressure build up times",or in a worse case,constant running of the motor, shortening motor life.
to low hp will prematurely burn up the motor.
a slightly higher hp with correct rpm would be best, by not over rev'ing the pump, and not straining the motor.
