Does anyone know anything on how to unstick a electric heat pump compressor?
My 24 year old electric heat pump compressor is stuck. That is what the service man told me. It heats but the temperature is 5 degrees below what I put it on. Can I unstick the compressor, he said that it couldn't be.
Most probably the reason you are getting heat is that your backup heater is working. If the compressor is locked up it could possibly be a capacitor issue. There are also hard start capacitors that can be added to your compressor to try to unlock it sometimes this works sometimes not. Beware a lot of techs that see a unit that old will not try very hard to get the unit running again and try to talk you into a new one. I will admit that a 24 yr old unit is generally not worth putting a compressor into. Good luck and hope you get it working.

I bought my 03 sonoma 2.2 extended cab just about a month ago. I must say, already I am a little disappointed in the mileage. I drive mostly on the freeway and can't seem to do any better than 22mpg or so.
